吹き始めの反応が軽快で、音色はやや明るめ、輪郭がはっきりしていて前に通る尺八です。基音に対して、張り・伸びを作る2倍音、3倍音がしっかり乗り、それ以上は控えめに現れて耳当たりが柔らかい、明るさはあるのに耳に刺さらない音色です。古典本曲ではふくよかに、民謡・現代合奏では抜けよく鳴らせると思います。

Quick to speak at the start, this shakuhachi has a slightly bright tone with clear definition and strong projection. The 2nd and 3rd harmonics—which add presence and carry—are well supported, while the higher partials are restrained, keeping the timbre smooth to the ear: bright yet never piercing. It plays with a full, rounded character in classical honkyoku, and cuts through clearly in minyō and modern ensemble settings.
